LEAD Academy held its first Pep Rally inside the Cameron gym on Tuesday and officially kicked-off the 2016-2017 fall sports season with a celebration of the students.

"Here at LEAD, we have one goal: and that's to make it to and through college," said Dierra Swanson, opening the rally before more than 350 of her peers. "You can get involved in sports. You can get involved in clubs. Encourage each other. Join together."

She then turned the mic over to new School Director Nic Frank.

"I want to acknowledge Dierra for exemplifying one of our Ethos in that she was courageous," Mr. Frank said. "She just got down here in front of 360 students and she spoke with a lot of passion and she spoke with confidence."

Frank then outlined his excitement for the school year.

"Our goal is always the same: that’s to get you prepared for college and for life," he said. "The community we have at LEAD; it’s the small community feel. It’s the close friendships and the supportive teachers. The same thread that brings us all together is that supportive environment, that college focus and what it means to be a LEAD student. So get out there, get involved. It’s high school. It should be fun, but you also have a job to do when you show up everyday and that’s to get prepared for your future."
