Our Purpose

Our College Counseling Department is committed to LEAD's mission to prepare all our students with the knowledge and skills to succeed in college and in life.

We are proud to offer a full-time college counselor to our 47 seniors in the class of 2018.  Students receive individual guidance tailored to specific needs and interest, as well as a college and career readiness curriculum through four years of seminar class.  While 100% of our alumni have been admitted to a four-year college or university, we are proud that students make a post-secondary decision that is best for them due to our counseling approach of best fit for individual students and his or her needs.

We ask all of our LEAD students to develop a college list and make a final college decision based on best fit, which includes the following needs:  academic, emotional, financial, living and social.  Due to our success with this individualized approach, we have 62.60% of alumni still persisting through college which is six-times higher than the national average for low-income minority students, which is the majority of our student body.
